Leave and Cleave

We can forget at times the seriousness of God's Word to leave and cleave once married. You can have a wonderful relationship with family and friends, without crossing the boundary line of leave and cleave. No minister, person in the church, or outside person should come between you and your spouse or hold control over you and your spouse in such a way that it is damaging to your marriage or family. God's Word clearly states that once our own children are grown and married, we are to let them leave and cleave also. If we misalign this command, we are breaking God's Word. Though I'm sure we won't want to let go, a season will come when God has different things planned for a homemaker and wife whose children are grown. Perhaps you are called to adopt littles, and give them a life they have never even dreamed of. Perhaps you are to travel in ministry or aid in your husband's career by helping out since more free time is available. As wives, lets leave and cleave unto our own husbands making them our head of the household under Christ. We all need work in this area. We fall short. However, lets strive to lead the pure and godly lives Jesus has designed for us and see the freedom and joy that comes in it.
