Amazing Documentary

There are some documentaries that have held close to my heart. One was about orphans in Eastern Europe  when I was 16, praying to the Lord to show me my calling in life. It was of course, to be a wife and mom, and I was dating my sweet husband at the time. Almost 17 yrs. together-come Dec 29th! It was also to love my family and have a heart for the outcast and the orphan.

The second documentary I watched I loved, so I am sharing it. I made my husband watch it a few years ago with me. Jeremy was real excited, let me tell ya :) But, he loves my unique heart; I guess thats why he is mine.---One flesh union under Jesus Christ.

Anyways, I have a heart for the Amish. I am fascinated by Amish and Mennonite culture. I guess that's why they thrive on tourism. So much so, I purposefully slow our lives down when we can at home to focus on God and each other. I also enjoy being a homemaker.  I try to take life at a slower pace.

I saw the Amish in Ohio when we were praying about becoming a missionary aviation family a long time ago. God did have outside missions for us, but now my husband is a witness to others in his career. I still have a heart for the Amish, and a deep love for this culture.  (As a missionary, you should have a love for other cultures and honor them when witnessing about Christ).  Many Amish are actually Christians, but some are not. -On a side note- the Mennonites are not Amish and faithful Mennonites match a biblical statement of faith necessary for Christian salvation

---I also have a heart for kids and wherever He leads me. My calling doesn't fit in a box.

This show follows an Amish family who started to question their Amish ways. BBC filmed them. They gave all to follow Jesus Christ and the Bible as they were able to read it. They also tried to witness to their community, but were shunned. (It shows the legalism and false practices the Amish can adhere too). However, this family chooses to live in their culture that they were brought up in; but they have given all to Jesus.

I could just see Jesus in this family. After watching this, I was like, I want this to be my family. Not the clothes haha. But, the love. The faithfulness to the gospel and a sold-out home wherever we are. I need to go witness for Christ on the streets like this ex-Amish man. I love seeing how they love each other in their marriage, how they sing hymns and spiritual songs over their kids, and how everything they do is meant to glorify Jesus.

Enjoy if you watch! BBC did a great job. This is their testimony: (link below)
