I am so glad we are all feeling better in this house! 103 plus fevers were not fun. Everyone is recovered. I am as well, except, I now have a secondary eye infection. It might be from coughing so hard, and I might have injured my eye, but I think its a secondary infection from flu or Covid (What we are recovered from- thx for prayers). I have a stye and my lower eyelid is all swollen. Hot tea bag compresses and taking colloidal silver are happening to hopefully help my eye.
I am at least able to get a handle on the house, co-op prep for homeschool group, prepping and planning, meals, grocery items to order, things baked around here for food, meals cleaned up, dishes done, some laundry.... The normal.
We like a disinfected, clean house to function, so we place a lot of effort in cleaning it. I'm glad my husband helps out a lot when he is home and sometimes we get outside help when we are able. I am one of those types of people who truly needs an organized, clean house. And with a family of 7, there are always messes to clean every time you turn around.
Some health tips:
1. ---Make Soap for Hygiene For Everyone in Your Household:
I am making soap for our household and you can too!
You just order a pre-made soap base on Amazon. ( I got goats milk soap base cubes) These are pre mixed and made with glycerin and lye, and the lye is gone from the base after its made, so this step makes it way easier. This is shea butter soap base on Amazon. Amazon has a lot of soap bases for DIY soap making. https://www.amazon.com/Stephenson-Oatmeal-Shea-Butter-Melt/dp/B0101ZCXKS?crid=3OGJ6M694JGPS&keywords=Oatmeal+shea+melt+and+pour+soap+base&qid=1646178635&sprefix=oatmeal+shea+melt+and+pour+soap+base,aps,81&sr=8-2&linkCode=sl1&tag=gardther-20&linkId=3416d4faed0f4ddfc4f3bd451780d3d3&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
I bought soap molds with flower stencils. (these are cheap) and dried calendula flowers (4 dollars) with Marula oil. As time goes on, I'll buy calendula oil and some other oils like tea tree oil when we can afford it. We are budgeting tight right now. Soap molds (silicone) can be googled in the Amazon search bar.
You can mix your soap with any essential oils that you like. Marula oil is great for acne, it has anti-aging and moisturizing effects, has some antibacterial effects ( as does goats milk) and it is high in antioxidants, essential, and amino fatty acids. A bottle isn't that expensive and will last a long time.
Directions:
Heat the soap base in a broiler or large pot. Pour the liquid into a pouring, plastic measuring cup. (You might only need half a bag or half your soap base square.) Add dried flowers and about ten to fifteen drops of oil to the mix. Stir. Pour into molds. Let dry at room temperature and pop out soap bars. That's it!
I plan on ordering beeswax and coconut oil to melt together, adding in essential oils for moisturizing salves for eczema at some point.
I am going to see if making soap bars is cost effective for everyone. So far, it was around twenty something for soap materials...and I'm hoping this will make 12-16 bars.
2. ---Honey, Date, and Peanut Butter Muffins:
If they taste good I'll make a bigger batch for everyone. Simple baking for hot, cheap breakfasts are a win for my littlest bunch. The other kids are great at making their own oatmeals, cereals, eggs, or homemade pancakes.
In a small blender mix dates, one banana, peanut butter, honey, pumpkin seeds, and flour/baking soda with milk and water.
You can add a bit of brown sugar if you like.
Spoon into muffin tins and bake at 350 until done (around 25 minutes). I stirred in extra honey into each muffin cup with the batter poured. I am hoping the littles like these at least for quick, healthy, homemade muffins in a snap.
3. ---Intermittent Fasting & Deep REM Sleep---
I have become really in tune with fasting for 14 hrs. every day. If I need a break, I'll take a couple of days off. This is usually in between a month or month and a half of fasting, or when I'm sick. Also, sometimes I'll eat later when I'm super hungry and fast longer in the am- until 11:30am or 12pm.
I usually stick to a 6 pm to 8 am eating window or a 7pm to 9 am eating window.
I have really felt great. This mixed with falling asleep to christian fiction audio books (usually mystery books) is great. Falling asleep to audio books puts you into deep REM sleep and I can feel the difference let me tell ya. You might wake up, but I just go back to sleep with my book on.
Anyways, this mixed with intermittent fasting makes me feel so much better.
Intermittent fasting is a way to practice self control biblically for me. It also helps your body burn fat, lose weight, refresh your organs, fight inflammation, produce collagen, fight disease, and it gives you more energy. A splash of milk in coffee is fine in the am before eating... a tiny splash. Under 100 calories.
I am busier and happier when I stick to this routine. It did take a bit of time to get used too, but now since I'm used to it, it really helps. The great thing is people lose weight and burn fat without really changing their eating habits. And when you do get around to eating, your body is making sure you have some healthy grains, proteins, fruits, and veggies. You can also have sweets in a smaller or normal portion from time to time.
I do notice a big difference. Studies show fasting this way for six months can help you lose 6-10 pounds without changing eating habits. Plus the additional benefits I listed.
4. ---Purehaven Products---
I bought these from a friend and I am loving their facial care and moisturizer. I'm excited about the kids natural toothpaste. I will be adding more products to my home from their company in the future.
5. ---Pumpkin Seeds---
Pumpkin seeds get rid of toxins and de-worm. Eat them often and add them to cookies or muffins.
Hope you are having a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Briana
