Well, our date was actually Thursday night. My husband, Jeremy, surprised me and took me out on the town. We had an amazing dinner and my favorite... Moscato wine. For dinner we split the salmon plate, with the charcuttueri board, along with chorizo and bacon stuffed dates. It was delicious!
Anyways our Friday... Jeremy took some of the girls to Marshalls to go shopping and Petco. We adopted a cat. Actually, I did, and its for Avayln. It stays way up on our 4th level, so it's all good. She is so sweet.
I took my other daughter to soccer and our son came home later.
It's now after 11 and Jeremy is drawing cabinetry and I''m working on 7th grade history curriculum Yep, thats how we roll. Everyone is asleep and we are up. I'm usually listening to an audio book (Christian fiction and mystery) while my husband works or sleeps---he needs more sleep...pray for that...
So here is our 7th graders homeschool curriculum. We have had some changes for the year, but she is thriving at home. I love having her home with me. She is so sweet and is becoming such a great helper. I can tell this is exactly what she needed; her mom and dad and to be home with us in the good and hard days of life.
She does co-op , sports, and church... so she sees friends all the time.
Bible- Master Books Bible - Foundations of Faith (Excellent! Today she learned about why the Bible is accurate, authentic, and what would and would not be considered canon.)----I also have a blank journal that I bought. Some days she just copies scripture into her journal. She actually loves this.
Math- Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra- All online and self-correcting (Yay!) I don't do a thing. The men from Harvard who created the program have the program down pat. She is learning independently.
Language Arts: Mix & Match
Monarch Online 7th Grade Language Arts and Grammar- This has been hard, but she is getting the hang of things.
I also ordered 7th grade daily paragraph writing and editing worksheets and Wordly Wise for additional spelling and vocabularly practice.
Reading: Assigned chapter books and 3-D projects, book reports due...She is currently reading, "Adara."
Science: Apologia General Science for Middle School- Amazing curriculum with a Christian worldview
History: We ended up dropping online and switching to Homeschool in the Woods History. I am so excited and this is hands-on , creative and fun. We will order additional units, Lord willing, but we are studying the Industrial Revolution up through the Great Depression. She has a timeline to color, cut, and paste figures too, a history notebook to cut and glue projects/coloring in, crafts, writing news articles and writing about events, texts to read, and many more ways to delve into what she is learning in a creative and engaging way. I'm also adding in extra videos tying in events for us to watch; and possibly chapter books to read. History should be fun!
Keyboarding: Gather Round Keyboarding Workbook (She uses proper hand format and types the daily worksheet text into a page document. I want her to become a fast typer--- like me.)
Electives: Gather Round Ancient History and Living off the Land
--These units are so fun and she has done things like learning how pioneers made candles in /Living off the Land/ and she actually made her own candle, drawing a map of her homestead, and it explores all things living off grid. The other book is fun too! Gather Round is highly recommended for unit studies.
Classical Conversations- I love their partnership with IEW. (Instititue of Excellence in Writing) She will supplement with these workbooks.
Other than that, unschooling... things like chores, cooking, helping her parents at home, cleaning, organizing, and more.
------Exciting Happenings----
Jeremy and I have a new bedroom dresser. He gets to set it up. Yay! Its a black farmhouse dresser and I bought some black pillows to accent this, placing on top of our cream comforter. Our room is farmhouse and country themed.
I made oatmeal from scratch and learned the measurements. I also added in pumpkin and peanut butter to the oatmeal this am, and my kids loved it! Canned pumpkin... super easy. Sugar, syrup, cinnamon, and butter too...
I made fruit pies. Some with homemade crust and the other blueberry pie with store bought gf crust. It was delicious and rewarding.
We have loved our raw milk. Its delicious.
Jeremy's office space and guest space is completed. At our house. Yay! Besides a table... :) The boys have also made this their football man cave...
Thats about it.
Blessings,
Briana
