There is some planning that mothers have to do come winter season, especially with lots of mouths to feed, immune systems to keep healthy, and a household to keep warm. Here are my ideas for your winter season...
I have learned to embrace the yearly seasons and to create special memories around each for my husband and children...
In Proverbs 31, we read that the wife and mother makes provisions for her household, especially in winter.
In winter, times are tough, the weather is bitter cold, people get sick, and our immune systems are compromised... Along with this, sometimes the bitter cold reminds us of bitter situations or dreary circumstances in our lives.
This is where we need to continually drink from the living water that Jesus provides, soaking in His Word in the Bible, and praying to Him often. He is the only one that can ever, truly satisfy.
So, besides physically keeping your family happy and healthy this season; focus on keeping your heart close to the Lord and pouring out to Him, and your family, and those He has placed in your life or chosen you to walk alongside.
A new idea I have had is going through a devotional for Christian purity with my girls. I also ordered my husband a book to walk through with our son.

For the boys...

For the girls...
We have long winters where we live and they are beautiful and extreme at the same time.
They also last for months on end-- so this year, I am starting winter prep early for health, immunity, and clothing.
Here are some ideas with how I am preparing to take care of my kids and husband during flu season and the pandemic.
1. Elderberry Syrup
I always have this on hand for everyone in the house for cold seasons. Elderberry syrup raises immunity and helps fight off viruses.
You can also buy elderberry jam on Amazon from Mrs. Millers brand!
2. L-Lysine and Quercitin
These are two amazing supplements to take alongside elderberry during any illness.
L-Lysine specifically inhibits the flu virus.

3. Zinc
4. Cold & Flu Salts
5. Green Tea for people and our pet
If you have a dog, you can supplement a little amount of green tea in their water at times for immunity during the winter season--- look this up and do your own research --- for dosage and dog breed...
... and other holiday and seasonal teas...
6. Warm socks, snow boots, sweaters, gloves, mittens, and beanies...
Winter must have for everyone....
7. Knitted thick blankets... thrift store finds!
Christmas Prep:
I love Christmas more and more and celebrating the birth of our Savior! With our kids, I have started having traditions and special items around the house each year...
1. Christmas Picture Books
-Nativity
- Classic Seasonal Books
I lay these in a tray on our fireplace or coffee table for reading
2. Fudge!
The most simple and delicious fudge you will ever make...
*Hershey's Semi Sweet Choc Chips-- you have to use semi-sweet
Melted in a large pan with sweetened, condensed milk. * That is it!
Pour on a baking pan with wax paper. Let cool in the fridge for hours or a freezer for 1/2 hr to an hour.
When firm, cut in cubes and store in containers...
3. Decorations- I like to add to my collection yearly. I visit the thrift shops.
My favorite new items have been house villages with lights and angels.
4. Nativity crafts, coloring books, and a playset --- This is new on my list this year with a toddler and older kids who love to paint and color...
5. Craft day. This year, I want to do a seasonal craft with copying hymns into journals and gluing in dried leaves and flowers to these pages as a neat gift for the kids.
6. Pajama Night and The Nativity Story Movie
- We always get in pajamas and have special treats while watching this movie. It's the best tradition ever.
7. Toddler Sensory Bin or Tray- Christmas Theme
This can have rice, dried beans, or oats. You can place in nativity figurines for nativity play.
You can also use dried acorns and Christmas miniature toys for free play.
This looks great from Firefly Meadow Shop on Etsy...
I hope you have a wonderful Autumn and Winter Season!
